A Clinical Study on Abdominal Surgery in Neonate and Infant

Abstract
|
|
|
The authors performed a clinical analysis on 32 cases of neonatal and infant abdominal surgery. The clinical material was collected and analysed in the Department of Surgery, Seoul Red Cross Hospital from Jan. 1989 to Dec. 1993.
@ES The following results were obtained:
@EN 1) the change of main disease distribution was obtained according to the each group; the most common disease was gastro-intestinal obstruction due to congenital anomaly in neonates, and intussusception in infants.
2) the male to female ratio was 4.3:1.
3) Common diseases were intussusception(59.4%), idiopathic hypertrophic pyloric stenosis(21.9%), malrotation and mid gut volvulus(6.3%) in order of frequency. And each l case of jejunal web, imperforated anus, gastric teratoma and blunt
abdominal
trauma was included in this study
4) Postopertive complication occurred in 3 cases(9.4%) and all of them were after surgery of intussusception. They were 2 of wound infection and l case of incisional hernia.
5) The case of operative motality was none.
